Due to the ever changing circumstances of COVID-19 and the combination of sailing and social distancing, we continue to adapt our lesson format to best accommodate sailors. We want to keep it safe, fun and affordable!
Our priority is to protect the health and safety of the community and respect the BC Health Authority Guidelines.

An update on sailing operations with respect to COVID 19 from the Squamish Yacht Club
Like you, Squamish Yacht Club is deeply concerned about the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic. We take the health and safety of our sailors seriously, and want to promote socially responsible practices during this time. We are closely monitoring daily updates and taking the advice of our health professionals and local authorities. We are listening and practicing their recommendations on social distancing and self isolation.
The Squamish Yacht Club is happy to offer the Squamish youth and community something to look forward to this summer!
At this time, all spring & summer programs are postponed.

SYC Learn to Sail Committee
All programs this summer will have revised hours, fees and class sizes.
Please find below information on our standard summer programs.
Introduction to Sailing & Kayaking:
This program is for youth 7 to 10 years old. It is a one week introduction to sailing and kayaking. Tuition is $295 for the one week and enrollment is limited to 12 students each session; Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3 pm. New schedule & class size limit to be announced.
CanSail 1- 4:
This program is for youth 10 to 16 years old. This is a two week program where students will work towards the newly developed CAN SAIL levels 1 to 3. The tuition is $500 for 10 days of instruction and fun on the water. Reduced rate for the 9 day session. Enrolment is limited to 9 students in each session. New schedule & class size limit to be announced.
CanSail 5-6 (CanSail 4-6 combined):
This program is for youth 10 to 15 years old. This is a two week program where students work towards the newly developed CAN SAIL levels 5 & 6. The tuition is $500 for 10 days on instruction and fun on the water. Enrolment is limited to 9 students who have already completed CanSail 3. There is an opportunity for participants to join the Race Team at the annual Whistler Regatta August 29th & 30th 2020 and the Commodores Cup August 31st - Sept 3rd. New schedule & class size limit to be announced.
Young sailors ages 5-7. Does sailing float your boat? Come try sailing and learn about being safe around the water. Big brother/sister tag along option. 5 half day (9 am-12 pm) sailing sessions to give the little sailors a chance to play on the water. Explore the basics of sailing while developing safety and awareness on and around the water. The fee is $250 for 5 days. New schedule & class size limit to be announced.
The Advanced Sailing Team is available to SYC junior members who are looking to improve their sailing skills, have fun and learn to cooperate as a team in a racing environment. Advanced Sailing will provide sailors with an extra opportunity to get out on the water throughout the summer to develop their skills as racers and train with an experienced sailing coach in order to improve their performance at targeted events.

Advanced sailing will support 420s, RS Zest, Lasers, Radials and Optis. Join our coaches for land and water sessions on tactics, sailing-specific strength, stability and cardio exercises as well as on water racing skills and drills. We have in mind to train and better our sailors to help them set goals and perform in chosen regattas while positively representing SYC in the sailing community and creating a fun and safe learning environment sailors can thrive in both in skill and personal growth.
Just want extra time on the water? Let us know and we can split groups appropriately.
BUBBLE Adult Groups: New schedule & class size limit to be announced.
Hop into a dinghy with your friend, spouse or bubble member. We'll teach you all the basics of sailing so you can get out onto the sound on your own. Dinghy Sailing is a great way to learn how to sail and all dinghy skills are transferable to yacht sailing. 2 adults per sailboat and we guarantee 1 instructor per 4 adults.

Group lessons don't fit into the schedule or prefer the one-on-one coaching? We offer private lessons too! The best way to learn the basics is to jump in a dinghy. Want to improve your sailing, become more comfortable on the water or plan a fun family activity? The Squamish Yacht Club now offers Adult lessons! Busy with work, dinner parties and book club? 55$/hour for non-members and an additional 25$ per person. 35$/hour for members and an additional 25$ per person
Our training team consists of a professionally trained and SailCanada certified instructor, several volunteer students and volunteer Squamish Yacht Club members. We are all committed to creating a safe and fun environment where every experience is a positive one. Come & enjoy!
